Goodrich, Riquelme y Asociados, was chosen by The World Bank to lead the coordination of more than 80 law firms across the Nation and regarding the project “Doing Business in Mexico 2007”. The goal of the project is to measure through different parameters, the cost and difficulty of doing business in different Mexican cities throughout the country. This analysis evaluates and compares the way in which the legal framework interacts with the development or refrain of investment and productivity.
The project required information on four fields: company incorporation, property registration, guaranty enforcement and contract enforcement. GRA played a fundamental role in providing legal information required by the project as well as in gathering information from different lawyers across the country. Such information was then forwarded to the representatives of the World Bank.
The COFEMER (Federal Commission on Regulation Improvement) submitted the results of the project in Mexico City on Wednesday November 15, to different government agencies and lawyers involved. Partner Ricardo Lan and associates Carlos Moran L. and Edgar Martinez H. selected and coordinated more than 80 law firms and public notaries across Mexico as well as more than 17 attorneys at Goodrich Riquelme who participated in the project “Doing Business in Mexico 2007” the first one performed in Latin America by the World Bank through the International Finance Corporation.
